Envision has been working as part a a multi disciplinary design team to develop a new sustainable leisure centre in Coalville, Leicestershire. The scheme will include a range of sustainable design and construction features.
The £22 million state-of-the-art leisure centre project is being developed by North West Leicestershire District Council in partnership with Everyone Active, a sports and leisure company that manages over 190 leisure and cultural centres across the UK.
The project will transform council-owned land off the A511 (Stephenson Way) into a parkland leisure destination, including a trim trail with activity stations. Pedestrian and cycle access will be provided from Hermitage Recreation Ground and Stephenson College.
The centre itself will include:
- Eight lane, 25-metre main pool and learner pool with moveable floor.
- 120 station gym, 25 spin cycles and three dance studios.
- Café with healthy eating options.
- Eight court sports hall and three squash courts.
- Changing Places facility accessible from the lobby.
- 250 car spaces
- Clip ‘n’ Climb and soft play programmed
- Sauna, steam and spa pool
The building is being designed to achieve BREEAM Very Good rating – utilising a range of technologies, including Combined Heat and Power, air source heat pumps, electric car charging points and photovoltaic panels.
Envision is providing mechanical and electrical design, sustainability and energy services towards the development throughout the projects construction. Working in conjunction with Paragon Building Consultants, GT3 architects, Gyory Self engineers and OOBE landscape designers, the project is due for completion in 2021.
