UK Net Zero Carbon Building Standard

Envision UKNZCBS

Following the launch of Version 1 of the UK Net-Zero Carbon Buildings Standard (UKNZCBS), Envision has published a new capabilities document setting out how we support projects throughout every stage of the net-zero journey.

Director Sam Wallis has spent two years on the Technical Steering Group that developed the Standard, leading the Verification and Communication workstreams. The UKNZCBS has been developed not as a badge of intent, but as a measurable, independently verifiable framework that clearly defines what “net zero carbon” means for buildings — from embodied to operational carbon — and, critically, how in-use performance must be evidenced and verified. In an environment of increasing regulatory pressure and scrutiny of green claims, that credibility matters.

Following the UKNZCBS launch webinar on 13 April 2026, we are pleased to share our new document — Our Services: The UK Net-Zero Carbon Buildings Standard — which sets out Envision’s end-to-end service framework across nine project stages: from early-stage net-zero co-ordination and RIBA 0–3 predictive modelling, through design and procurement, to construction monitoring, practical completion and third-party verification.

At Envision, the principles embedded within the Standard closely mirror our core proposition: end-to-end sustainability support for real estate projects, structured around measurable and verifiable performance at every stage of the project lifecycle. Our services are fully aligned to support projects formally pursuing UKNZCBS compliance — but are equally valuable for clients who require robust, defensible decarbonisation strategies without seeking certification.

Version 1 signals a transition toward performance-led development. This document sets out how we can support your journey.
