The BREEAM New Construction 2018 scheme will replace the current BREEAM standards from March this year. There is still time to apply the old standards. Take action now!!
Envision has previously reviewed the implications of the draft manual, which is likely to have an impact on construction cost and the attainment of higher levels, such as Excellent or Outstanding. Our review can be found here. BREEAM 2018 – What’s Coming
Whilst we welcome the new standards, we believe that they will pose challenges to the construction industry.
If you still wish to apply the current standards its not too late, but you must take action soon.
- From the 7 March 2018 – The BRE will publish the new 2018 assessment manual.
- On 23 March 2018 – The current BREEAM UK NC 2014 scheme will close to new registrations.
After the closing date it may still be possible to register assessments against the BREEAM UK NC 2014 scheme but only under certain circumstances, such as there being a planning condition, S106 agreement or funding agreement which expressly requires the 2014 criteria to be applied.
We recommend that developers take action to register any existing or forthcoming projects against the current 2014 BREEAM standards.
