Envision is pleased to continue its close relationship as sustainability advisor to IKEA. Envision has been working with IKEA to develop a new sustainable store in Greenwich which is due to open in winter 2018.
IKEA is investing £100 million in the new Greenwich store, which will be the most sustainable store in the UK. The project incorporates a range of sustainability measures and is targeting a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating as a minimum, which has been certified in design. The IKEA Greenwich store will incorporate a green roof and roof top pavilion, a circa 640 kWp photovoltaic array, ground source heating, indirect evaporative cooling as well as rainwater harvesting and greywater treatment, reducing water consumption by 50%. Renewable materials will be used in construction. Initial calculations show that the building is capable of achieving a 64% reduction in regulated emissions from Part L 2013.
The project is now underway on site where Envision is providing sustainability champion support to the contractor and site teams.
